My birthday was on May 6, right before Mom had to go back home. She surprised me with a carrot cake and balloons. It was a perfect birthday, hysterectomy and all!🎂 🎉 🎁

The fatigue is the most humbling and lasting post op symptom. You just have to let yourself rest when it hits. Mom was great about pushing me when I needed it. By the second week I was going on short walks with Mom. We borrowed movies from the library and she had lots of snuggles with her Grandpigs.

I couldn’t have done this without my Mom. She loved Momming me and wouldn’t let me let me do a thing but rest. It was great. The first week I kept a solid pain med regiment. The oddness of the feeling of my intestines settling into their new home, the gas and cramping were tolerable…

My Mom flew in to take me to the hospital and take care of me for the first two critical weeks. The surgery itself was only 30 minutes, although Mom and I were at the hospital for about 10 hours with pre and post care. My friend sent me a hysterectomy pillow and some other post op goodies…
