I grew up in northern Indiana. My Dad, who came from a large family of morbid Swedes, would drive past the location of H. H. Holmes castle in Chicago: "That's where the murder castle was!" He subscribed to True Detective and I read them cover-to-cover when they came in the mail. Explains a lot.
