Cushing Manzanita (A. cushingiana) after the 2017 Nuns Canyon fire in the southern Mayacamas. Burl sprouting prolifically. We have some burls that are probably 8 feet across. I can’t imagine how old those are and how many fires they have seen.

After 6 inches of rain in 24 hours, the waterfalls are running nicely. (Sound up). This is Winter creek, a tributary of Hooker Creek in the hills above Sonoma Valley.

The waterfalls will be crazy this weekend. Over 2 inches of rain since this morning in the Southern Mayacamas, and lots more to come.
