Theatre PhD. Writing about Monsters and Acting atm. Horror fan. Ecology and environment. Got lots of public education. Long covider. She/her. Always planning for next hair color, a pet I wish I had, or surviving dystopia.
I've loved Death by Lightning. Succinct storytelling, a history often untold, great performances, excellent design. And yes, it only solidifies my weird love of 19th century medicine that was wild as hell.

Why yes, today I taught my class in Dublin with this shirt on and definitely spoke with a bit more pep.

Had a wonderful day at the Abbey theatre yesterday watching Marina Carr's Oedipus trilogy. Exciting and unexpected writing throughout, terrific design and directing, and the cast was truly fantastic. Love to be in awe of theatre.

Are you even in theatre if you don't spend your mornings hot gluing demon horns back on a costume piece?

I am putting together a climate change themed haunt next week with undergrads in Dublin. It's all a bit of a mad experiment but shouldn't live performance be that way.

One room is a ghost themed room with drawings of extinct life I have quickly drawn on paper that was going to be recycled.

My sister and I enjoying Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the preview for "Waiting for Godot" on Saturday. Very compelling production and performances, great design, well paced. Brandon Dirden was a fantastic Pozzo.

The world is so very hard these days.

But then art and theatre remind me we are such creative, beautiful people that are trying to face its ugliness and reimagine it.

"Holdings" with Dublin Fringe Festival is a fantastically thoughtful and unique work. Congrats to all involved.

So excited to be included in this collection (discussing climate change on stage in ch 6). But what a fantastic assortment of chapters I can't wait to read too. Congrats to the editors and all collaborators.

I had such a great time presenting at and meeting everyone at the Dracula Returns: A Conference and Celebration in Derby this past weekend. I learned so much and met wonderful people. Such a fun and warm conference. (And then ofc I had to go to Horrorcon in Sheffield).

The Science Museum in London.

Turns out progress and advancement requires leaders who understand the value of science, education, experimentation, debate, failure, international collaboration, and support of these endeavors.
I marvel at human achievement and the arrogance of doing otherwise.

Hosted Long COVID Advocacy Ireland in my Theatre and Activism class, with support from College of Arts and Humanities EDI Committee at UCD. Still plenty for us to do to make our indoor spaces safer and keep each other safer.

Milk at the Abbey. As evocative and powerful as you'd imagine.

When you're on a ghost tour walking to the necropolis in the pitch dark and cold. Tuesdays in January, am I right?

Today I gave away some books via freecycle. When this stranger called me she asked what book she should start with and I laughed and said it depends... The woman kindly gave this to me as a thank you.

The world is sometimes sweet and kind in small unexpected ways.

Another delightful night at the theatre (Emma at the Abbey). Masking, yet again, did not at all limit my ability to enjoy the play; the amount of very loud coughs did make me miss a line or two. Let's just be sensible this winter??

Very dark, gray day here in Dublin. Except for this one moment I captured walking home.

Outrage by Deirdre Kinahan at Pavilion Theatre was a very powerful piece of theatre. Will be thinking about it for awhile.

Group filming day. Students devised, wrote, and performed this digital theatre script (they all turn into AI bots). I will be editing but enjoying it dearly.

I mask everywhere. Teaching. Going to the theatre. Museums. Even haunted attractions and theme park rides.
COVID shattered my life and my health. And I'm still doing better than many. I won't abandon myself or others to this virus by unmasking - no matter bans, social pressure, ridicule.
