I sleep 70% of my life dreaming of rent controlled buildings. Roaming the streets of Vancouver South Granville.
I keep thinking about the so far unmentioned part of the story. The mentally ill shooter killed their mother & barely high school age stepbrother. Somewhere there is a man who just lost his wife and child and possibly a living grieving mother to that young stepbrother.
They too are victims.

You want to use gunman for women?
Regardless if the shooter is transgender or not, why should anyone say "gunman" when we think it's not a man?

The idea of a fairly wealthy Western democracy leaving people with disabilities wanting food and in danger of homelessness is pretty galling to me.
It all boils down to human solidarity, doesn't it?

Further as someone born & raised in Germany I will never understand how Canadians don't seem to understand that EVERYBODY should have dental & pharma coverage as that is clearly healthcare. Just like I don't get why people on disability benefit are left FAR below the poverty line in every province!

The majority of Americans live an insulated experience. They literally think they are the only civilization in the world.
Apparently 42% have never been abroad before.
I think America also struggles with concepts of solidarity. People thinking they'll make it rich & then they don't want high taxes.
