It's about honor. He could not honorably do what Drumpf asks of him. He refused to do it. By leaving, he indicated a path for those in the military who want to be true to their oath to the country. That's a decision each officer must make for 'self.

"Might be"??? The man has been showing distinct signs of dementia for months, even more of them recently. It's not hidden, it's not "might". He should be in a residential care center for people with dementia, not in the people's house that he attacked with a backhoe.
