I wore this at a local grocery store recently. A cashier across the store pointed at me and yelled “yes you do!” Turns out her daughter has a #PhD and just landed her first faculty position at a university whose #NIH funding was being withheld. Real jobs and real science are being lost really fast.

In other bad news, PREP was officially terminated today. Our highly successful post-baccalaureate research education program, associated with almost 50 PhD or MD/PhD graduates and counting, was NIH-supported for 18 years. Future American scientists have been lost in this hostile government takeover.

Heads up--if you are working on a grant, check that your NOFO hasn't been "early expired". Also, grants.gov is wonky. And, this:

I cannot comprehend how in my lifetime we went from the eradication of smallpox to the presumed confirmation of an anti-vaxxer to head HHS.

The NOFO PAR-22-220 was taken down early even though the published deadline is today (1/31) at 5pm. The NIH is not accepting proposals for this NOFO as of at least a day ago. It's not clear what will happen to the proposals already submitted for this post-bacc training grant.

NIH ICs took down webpages last night for programs and grant opportunities related to diversity.
