In comics, I read several volumes of Hell Boy, Cat + Gamer, and Cosmoknights.

Highlights include The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar, Blood Over Bright Haven by M. L. Wang, and Labyrinth's Heart by M. A. Carrick.

You shouldn't be forced to play games you hate and communicating likes and dislikes is more mature than suffering in silence.

Having fun playing a game should be more important than quantity of games played.

Game stores don't support board gamers as much as Magic or Warhammer because board gamers in general aren't adequate support for game stores.

Kicking a player out of a group for being good at games (and otherwise a good sport) is unreasonable.

And now I owe them $3600 because my health insurance doesn't cover dental until the 12 month mark.

In other news, a surprise, urgent root canal now qualifies as one of the worst 4 hours of my life. The novocaine wore off twice. The anesthesiologist accused me of lying about which tooth hurt. They had to drill out the first replacement filling they put in for being too small.

Not controversial, factually correct.

It's not lost on me that both of these are about minority cultures being subsumed by cultural hegemonies that want to steal the unique power they have and the people caught between the two belonging to both and neither.
