Unfortunately I can't think of a good pun about the decline of Republicans' electoral dominance in the Volunteer State

Remember when Obama appearing at rallies in New Jersey was a sign Ciatarelli was sure to win the Governorship?

Other than utterly disastrous midterm losses for his party, yes
November 27, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Very sorry for your loss.

You just got pitched.

It was very common to claim it had become a safely blue state after the 2008 and 2012 elections. My local newspaper at the time printed as much after 2008. Famously one of the biggest criticisms of Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign is that she didn't campaign much there.

I remember when there was no path back for Republicans in Wisconsin and Michigan and no path back for Democrats in Georgia
November 26, 2025 at 8:10 PM
...after having run in the Democratic primary earlier this year and before that, having been a pretty well known Democrat for his entire political career.
November 26, 2025 at 4:42 PM
Yes, "only 50.4%" is copium considering that the Dem vote was split between 2 candidates.
November 26, 2025 at 2:56 PM
I hope you're right. But in 2012 Obama carried Wisconsin and Iowa by about as much as Harris carried New Jersey last year. Wisconsin has remained a swing state and Democrats have utterly collapsed in Iowa since. New Jersey is very diverse so GOP has a very bright future there if racedep continues.
November 26, 2025 at 2:04 PM
I think it's incorrect to consider Minnesota and New Mexico safely blue states though. New Jersey was a safely blue state in the 2000s and 2010s but after 2024 it's clearly a swing state as well.

I woukd definitely go with that one if it were available.

Apparently marshmallow flavored ice cream with "pound crust" pieces and peanut butter swirls

Salted caramel.

Though honestly 2022 was a pretty fun election night with all the predictions of a Republican tsunami falling flat
November 26, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Yes. Also probably the last time to date Dems had a fun election night in a federal election cycle.

I couldn't afford to move to Denver in 2021 when my job at the time did. The reality is many of these metro areas have largely caught up with "high cost coastal" metro areas in recent years.

Well last time I checked, Venezuela wasn't in the Middle East. Checkmate, LIEberals!

Never been to the UK but I went to a Dunnes in Ireland last week and was very impressed by it compared to supermarkets in the USA. Also seemed to be cheaper than in the U.S. even accounting for the exchange rate.

Interestingly I actually just met an anglophile earlier this evening. He's a big Sherlock Holmes fan, which is apparently how he became an Anglophile.

I doubt it will be handled competently but even if it isn't Trump still could enjoy a rally around the flag boost in 2026, thought by 2028 the public could tire of the War. Even then it could still be a good electoral strategy to leave yet another mess for the next Democratic President.
