One of the most impactful books I've ever read is Mila 18, an historical fiction based on the Warsaw ghetto uprising. I was 17 when I first read it, and it was my first real exposure to the Holocaust.

Yesterday was my birthday 🎂🎁🎈 A group of my grade 5/6 students got together and bought a cake, had another teacher help them with candles, and the whole class sang to me 🥹♥️

I just finished this powerful historical fiction story about the Holodomor. This horrific part of history is so little known. I love the genre because it both teaches and inspires learning about history while making it more 'human' as we connect to the characters and their stories 💗 #booksky
