I'll have her look. I have a chance since my great great grandmother didn't give up her citizenship when she came to the US. I need to improve my German a bit first but it's good enough for a conversation when traveling. I also watch German news online with subtitles to help improve it

Interesting, thank you. I'm a woman so I didn't need to worry about paternity granting citizenship. Although at times I wish that my child wasn't born on a US post so she would have dual citizenship right now. She agrues that the post is now closed so the footprint is now German again

Omg. Ask military members serving overseas, if an American woman has a child anywhere in the world that child is an American.If a man has a child overseas, it is only a citizen if he is married to the non US mom. If it was not true, my child would be a German citizen and I would have got Kindergeld

No, a child of an American woman is always born a citizen. A child born of an American man however is not automatically American and must be married to the mother if born outside the country. Ask any military member serving overseas.
