I'm in Ohio, been trying to get a Covid vaccine all month. None at CVS or any other pharmacy, none at doctor's offices, none at county health department. They all say the same thing: "Maybe in 2 weeks," which is what they said 2 weeks ago.

I can sympathize.
My next door neighbors have a pool and 3 kids under 12y/o. Each of those 3 invited 4 friends over for a pool party the day before yesterday.
The loudest sound ever recorded was the eruption of the Krakatoa...prior to the day before yesterday.

It would be surprising if that DIDN'T happen.

Long ago, my Irish grandmother had a cat named Scunge. She was a roamer. (The cat, not Grandma Rosie.)

I used to say "Real gardeners don't wear gloves."
Then one fine spring morning I, barehanded, scooped up a clump of soil from beneath a tomato plant...
except it wasn't soil, it was a dead, decomposing toad.
I wear gloves now.

I couldn't agree more that this is their land. We are the interlopers.
What part of the country are you in that you see foxes and bears?

I envy your 2 1/2 acres! We have deer that always drop by for a midnight snack. This morning I found the Scarlet Runner Bean vines stripped of their leaves and all the flower buds nipped off the zinnias. And then there's the enormous groundhog that has to taste-test every single tomato.

That's why I have to get out to the garden every day. To anyone else I'm sure it looks like a weedy, overgrown mess, but to me it's a sanctuary where I can turn off my brain and just soak up the green. Do you have such a place?

Scared, too. Worried, depressed, disgusted. It's only my cats and my garden that are keeping me somewhat sane.
