I naively thought palliative care would be a priority and was shocked at how much I had to fight. All the individual health professionals and carers were great but there were huge gaps and it was stressful having to fight as well as care for dying Mum.

I had no support as carer for the first two weeks and the right things weren’t put in place for the district nurses. It was only when a nurse from the GP surgery came round and saw how bad it was, that things were put in place.

Nothing was joined up. Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in hospital The hospital did not inform anyone or make a referral to the hospice who still provide support services. I had to inform Mum’s GP that she was dying of cancer and push for a referral to the hospice which took a while.

My Mum needed palliative care at home. Until April this year personal care would have been provided by our local hospice but this funding has now been cut. The contract went out to brokerage and was given to a care company who were not palliative specialists

I got salary sacrifice in a below average pay job as a basic rate taxpayer. Was able to put away more than I ever managed before or since. This is another disincentive for those on lower incomes to save.

Vote Streeting get Reform. Labour needs the left to win but since Starmer lied about his agenda, then told us to leave, many did. Wes Streeting certainly won’t win us back, no matter how many lies he tells about left wing policies. Once bitten, twice shy.
