27. Is This Seat Taken?- A cute and cozy logic puzzle game that has an inspiring story behind it. I feel like the puzzles were interesting and had enough mechanics to keep them challenging without ever being TOO hard or TOO easy. The art and music was great, and it was a quick and fun time!

26. Once Upon a Katamari- I was so excited to hear a new katamari game was coming out, and this does not disappoint!! Classic mechanics and levels brought back but with some fresh twists and fun new environments. New music, which isn't QUITE as good but has some certified bops. I ♥️ Katamari!

25. Pokemon ZA- I was really excited for this release, and I'm glad I got it for switch 2 where it runs better. The battle mechanics felt novel at first, but over time lock-on pain wore on me. Lumiose also feels smaller than Arceus, but I did like the characters and caught 4 natural shinies!

My games for October! I beat Yotei and Little Misfortune, still making my way through Pokemon ZA now.
Ive been looking forward to Yotei for a while, and it was a great Autumn-vibes game 🍂

24. Little Misfortune- Decided to play this tonight for Halloween. It was a delightful story, and I wanted nothing but the best for Misfortune as soon as I met her. Great art, witty storyline, and a short but sweet romp. Really enjoyed my time with this one!

23. Ghost of Yotei- I was SO excited for this game, and it did not disappoint! It iterates on what made Tsushima so good, and added a lot of variety to the combat. The landscapes are absolutely gorgeous, and I loved going on Atsu's journey. I played in Watanabe mode, loved the lofi beats.

22. Signalis- Okay, I am BAD at survival horror games. I got hit a lot, and used guides for some parts. But I still felt this game was very accessible for me! The atmosphere was dark and oppressive, and the story is confusing, emotional and enthralling. Aiming definitely sucks tho!!

21. Sea of Stars- An RPG with roots in classics and nostalgia, but with its own flair. I loved how intentional the journey felt, and how I could play through without grinding and not be gated out of content. Waited to play it until now, to soak up the fall atmosphere it exudes.

20. Rune Factory Azuma- This is an interesting entry to the RF series that adds village management as an aspect. It was a bit to get used to, because with the villagers you don't really NEED to farm at all in this one, but you can. Combat was fun, characters were great and story was alright!

19. Iwakura Aria- I've been drawn to this VN for a long time due to its gorgeous art, so I was so excited it was localized! This is an absolutely gorgeous suspense/romance VN with a Gothic appeal that examines how love and hate are two sides of the same coin. It has some twists for sure 👀

18. No Sleep for Kaname Date- This is a fun romp in the AI Somnium world with a lot of references to the main two games! The Zero Escape team put their own twist on the series, and the writing was great as always. It's pretty short, and some of the puzzles felt a bit obtuse but I had fun!

17. Wanderstop- I didn't realize that I needed this game right now. An exploration of burnout and it's repercussions, this game managed to call me out several times 😂
I didn't always like how things went, but had to learn to accept it and move forward. I loved making tea and talking to Boro!

16. Shin Chan Summer Vacation- This is basically a Boku no Natsuyasumi game with a Shin Chan skin on it, and it's absolutely fantastic for that! A game about being nostalgic for a slow and relaxing childhood in the country, with gorgeous background and lots of laid back activities to do!

15. Donkey Kong Bananza- As a lover of DK 64 I was so excited for this game, and I was NOT disappointed! What a fantastically fun game- the destruction mechanics are surprisingly fun and the platforming and movement is great. Also so many great callbacks to those who have been long time fans!

14. Fantasy Life i- I played this on switch 2 with the upgrade, and it looks gorgeous and runs so smoothly! A great sequel for fantasy life with the same addicting, grindy gameplay loop. The main story was cute, but I wish they still had stories for each life. Lots of post game content left!

13. Hundred Line- Last Defense Academy: WOW, what an absolute beast of a game!! I spent 2 months and 200 hours on this game and I still didn't 100% complete it when I was done. An incredible undertaking, with an amazing story and a loveable cast of characters. Truly must be experienced!!

12. Neva- A short but beautiful game about change and cycles, that leaves an impact. The gameplay is a mixture of puzzle platforming and pattern based combat, and your platforming arsenal unfolds over the course of the game in a way that feels really good. This game is also just SO beautiful!

11. Despera Drops- I love the art and premise for this game, it was an interesting new take in the genre and had some surprisingly thought out takes about social politics at times. The common route really drags though, and while I ended up liking all the LIs I was never really drawn in.

10. Atelier Yumia- This was a pretty good JRPG, but not as good as an Atelier game as I was hoping. The open world and combat changes took the focus off of alchemy, which became secondary and almost unnecessary to complete the game on normal mode. It is beautiful though, and the cast was fun.

9. 1000xResist- "There is a you that remains, and remains."
I can't speak highly enough about this game. It's a simple narrative adventure game. It doesn't have intense gameplay or stunning graphics, but it manages to tell such a compelling, heart wrenching and relatable story.

8. Tokyo Psychodemic- This is a short detective mystery game with a super interesting premise in a post-pandemic world. It was a lot higher production that I imagined- voice acting, live action videos, moving character sprites. I had a really good time with this one!

7. Cocoon- This short and sweet puzzle game is gorgeous and atmospheric, and does a good job of ramping up the puzzle difficulty. The world hopping puzzles were interesting and stumped me at times. I didn't like that boss battles were 1 hit KO, the frame rate got choppy near the end.

6. Final Fantasy 6- My husband has wanted me to play this game, and I'm glad that I finally did! Everything about this game is fantastic: the art, the music, the story, the magicite system, how comically evil Kefka is.. it all just felt great to play and had a perfect message for these days.

5. Gensou Manege- This was an Otome I saw on the Japanese eShop years ago, and was excited to see it get an English release! The art is gorgeous, the music is great and the story has an interesting premise. The route progression was just okay in my mind, and I never felt truly gripped by it.
