Yes!! I think people dislike having to sit quietly and do nothing else, but goddamn if podcasts (not to mention multi-hour video essays on Youtube) don’t debunk the idea that lectures themselves are the problem.

But then the answer isn’t always “it’s complicated and it depends”, which means the answer is actually pretty complicated and depends on which iteration of answering the question you’re on…

Bonus though, if the answer is always “it’s complicated and it depends”, then the answer to “Is it always complicated and does it always depend?” is just “Yes!”, which is neither complicated nor dependent! 🎉🎉

Worse! They *politely request* endnotes, thereby rendering authors complicit in their own corruption!

I think maybe the intuition is that undeserved *rewards* are wrong to give. So, undeserved goods are good to give as long as they’re not given as rewards.
