The NJ Pinelands is a million-acre piece of paradise tucked between the metropolis' of Philadelphia and NYC. Filled with ghost towns, endangered species of flora and fauna, cranberry and blueberry farms, and of course, the Jersey Devil!
Sammy Hunt (1911-2004) was a legendary bayman/piney in the Ocean County NJ area, and known for building boats, banjos, furniture, or anything he could create from a fallen tree; and his love of dancing! I took this photo of him back in the 90s, at Wells Mills County Park in the Pines of Waretown NJ.

Oh, those big, sweet, juicy sapphires! Ranked 5th in the nation thanks to NJ's sandy acidic soils they love so much, blueberry farms abound in the Pines, from small U-picks to large, commercial farms. Season begins mid-June; the historic Whitesbog Village celebrates it yearly with a big festival!

Got cranberries? NJ's Pinelands is home to several large cranberry farms, making it the 3rd largest producer in the country! This bog is in Double Trouble State Forest, once a thriving farm, but now preserved for both its historical and ecological significance.
