👏 👏 Great news! I’ve managed to avoid Covid to date through behavioural measures. I have a long history of relapsing-remitting ME/CFS triggered by viral infections and I am guessing this makes me more vulnerable to Long Covid.

I can’t stand the guy. He’s arrogant, sarcastic and has never believed that Long Covid exists.

It’s tragic what’s happening in the USA. I do worry that if Reform UK win the next general election that we will be heading for something comparable in the UK.

I was nearly killed by measles age 11 in 1977. Due to a GP error I was not vaccinated as a baby.

Meanwhile on the CDC website in the USA 🤦‍♀️ Absolute madness.

Thanks 🙏 I’m retired now which makes staying well easier. I don’t socialise indoors except with one friend at a time, who isn’t obviously sick. Thankfully I’ve been in remission the past 6 years so they’ve been my healthiest yet. I’ve enjoyed lots of walks and outdoor activities with friends.

Thanks! I have done my best to avoid Covid to date and so far been successful. This is because I have a history of relapsing-remitting ME/CFS.

Is there evidence that repeated Covid infections are damaging immune systems, as the author states?

Great article! I find it really frustrating that I cannot buy a Novavax Covid vaccine any more. I’m hardly rich, but I’d be willing to pay £100 again for one annually.

I absolutely agree! I’ve expressed my displeasure about nurse John Campbell many a time, but he has millions of followers and after spouting vaccine disinformation on YouTube is now attempting to radicalise people further to the right.

There has been a lot of alerts about the latest variants on Facebook by various outlets. So many laughing emojis and the weirdest of comments: e.g. “there was never a virus” and “no it’s the jabs” - all of which get a lot of “likes”. Seems a large swathe of the British public is really gullible 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately this is indeed the state of humanity in 2025. I blame social media in general. Anyone can be an influencer these days. People can earn a lot of money writing/speaking nonsense online and a lot of it is political. Disgraced British nurse John Campbell is a prime example.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve had a lot of infections in the past, unfortunately with sustained post viral episodes. I don’t know what virus I had in December 2018 but it floored me for months. I’d be far more confident socialising indoors if I didn’t get sustained post-viral episodes.

I haven’t had Covid or any other infection for over 5 years. In many ways it’s felt great, but I need to integrate back into socialising indoors. My concern is that 5 years of no infections means that I’m more susceptible to every circulating virus. The pandemic was very bad for my mental health.

The Covid pandemic in conjunction with my history of sustained post-viral fatigue syndromes has made me anxious about how my body will respond to my next infection. I was just emerging from a post viral episode lasting > 2 years in March 2020. I’m still not integrated fully into ‘life’ as it was.

Facebook seems to be riddled with far right and anti-vaccine people/bots. 15-20 years ago I quite enjoyed Facebook. It was chatting to friends with few adverts/business pages. Now it’s all of the latter and the comments on the pages are dire.

Yesterday I politely asked a guy who was coughing and spluttering who had turned up to do some work in my house to “come back when you’re better”. I have done my utmost to avoid Covid due to a history of relapsing-remitting ME/CFS. He looked gobsmacked. Most people have forgotten about Covid.

Thank you; that’s helpful!

Hi Marc, do you think there’s a benefit for annual Covid vaccination for people of my age (60) who have not had Covid? I was last eligible for a Covid vaccine on the NHS in Autumn 2022. NHS vaccine now confined to > 75 yrs and immunocompromised, but can buy privately.

This sort of nonsense is fuelling vaccine hesitancy in other parts of the world including the UK as well 😟
