In these uncertain times it’s a comfort to know I can always count on the absolute stranglehold Lifetouch has on school pictures. After all these years, it’s still one take and hope for the best, suckers.

Does anyone else add their loved one’s location to their weather app? I suppose it’s nice to know, and helps me feel connected via someone else’s rainy or sunny skies.

Cool cool cool. They also have higher pain tolerance, right? Crazy. So like superhuman and subhuman at the same time? Huh- what’s the word for that?

Our daughter receives Utah Medicaid through the Medically Complex Children’s Waiver. We’d be bankrupt w/out it. To keep it, we must submit a report every month and a multi-page, handwritten application every year. I can barely keep up. It’s built to be hard, and it’s going to get so much harder 😔

Some advice for new parents: buy 500 poster boards now. Store them in a safe place. Their day will come.

Gorgeous day in Salt Lake for the Hands Off protest with three of my daughters. We each chose something that mattered to us: funding the humanities, the right to uncensored histories, and supporting those with disabilities. #slc #handsoff

Historian friends, any recs for sources on gender/labor/photography/scrapbooks, esp in the American West? In the late 19th/early 20th cent Ellen Larson Smith had a thriving photography studio in the remote Mormon colonies of Ariz. Seen the 2020 Routledge. Photo: Mary Smith, 1908.

Like you want to say *something* but not too much because that’s just too bold but you want to be smart but also relatable and also amazing.

No one ever told my how anxiety-inducing it is to publish *anything*. I’ve unlocked a new level of fear not being able to edit something into oblivion.
My first article will be in the winter issue of Utah Historical Quarterly: “Heath and Healing on the Latter-day Saint Peripheries.” 🎉

Not everything can be fixed, but ice cream in Torrey, apple picking in Fruita, and a walk in The Cap fixes a few of them.
