I’ve written a piece on the curious lack of media and political interest in the issues faced by our national @britishlibrary.bsky.social. This is strange given we live in a world where ideas, knowledge and research are a long-term source of innovation and insight

The British library is in crisis: why does nobody care?
The widespread indifference to the British Library's crippling cyberattack demonstrates a perilous failure to value the knowledge infrastructure vital for national prosperity

Since the May elections Reform UK Ltd has lost (resigned, fired, left the party) 36 councillors at least.
At an average cost of £25,000 per by-election that means they have cost the country £900,000
What a waste of money, how many schoolmeals would that buy for hungry children?

This is utterly ridiculous. Structurally, there is no way that the green paper can be modified with due reflection and consultation. It is structurally impossible. So the only thing to do is start afresh. If we don’t do this, it’ll be a disaster for disabled folk. #TakingThePIP
The Government cramming Committee, Report & 3rd Reading into 1 day the week after 2nd Reading (so much for intervals between stages...) means if they pull the Bill they will have 2 days of Commons business to fill. But of greater concern is that this timetable has important implications for...
Wednesday 9th of July will see the committee of the Whole House and remaining stages of the Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payment Bill. That's very soon, assuming nothing changes.... (will head to the Lords after that AFAIK)

And we’re off!

The call for evidence for the curriculum and assessment review is now open, and will be for 8 weeks.

As @beckyfrancis.bsky.social says, this is the chance for a national conversation. Excited to hear the diverse views, insights and expertise of all.
