The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. This book is a historical fantasy set in WWI, a dark tale of desperation, determination, love, sorrow and madness. I loved it.

Finally read this fantastic book. Fredrik Backman now firmly cemented as one of my must read authors.
