I received Pell Grants. I snuck out extra food from the dining hall and ate pasta with red sauce every day. I didn't have health insurance. I was undeniably in need of financial assistance.

But I was even more in need of financial literacy and a government who doesn't take advantage of teenagers.

It is disgusting,
immoral,

EVIL

to coax teenagers into signing loan agreements they don't understand with wildly high interest rates under the guise of government assistance.

I would say I'm "not for free college" but that's BS. Of course I'm for free college. We need doctors and teachers and artists and people to look at rocks.

But realistically, I believe we MUST figure out how to slow down the rampant tuition increases.

ALSO:

Nearly a decade later and I've now paid back multiple times what I initially owed. I am in a lucrative field with no children. I could keep paying during the pandemic freeze. I can see the end of these loans, unlike so many people.

Hell of a way to learn about compounding interest, huh?
