Thankfully the operation was a success. I managed to get the robot back together without issue and the new side brush works fine.

It wasn't too bad, but it would be nice to have proper modular interconnects with each module where it slots in. 4/4

I had a laugh at the "Ultron" wifi board. Surely they picked that name purposely.

I also noticed the motor for the extractor bars had some smokey discoloration on the white plastic around it. The motor must have been under stress, I guess when items have gotten stuck in the bars. 3/4
A mostly orange colored circuit board is centered in the image, against the white plastic of the top of the robot. The board has the following imprint in white text: Ultron Wifi, A-YX01, E478338, a backward RU symbol followed by 94V-0. The image is centered on a cylindrical motor which drives the extractor bars. The motor is near the wifi board with the edge of the main board off to the left side. There are multi colored cables running along the perimeter of the motor bay back to the main board. There is some grey discoloration of the white plastic near the motor.

Sadly the components are not as modular as the iRobot robots. Each component has a long connector cable that snakes back up to the main board, meaning you have to disassemble the entire top of the unit to disconnect the part you actually want to replace. 2/4
The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra sitting on a table, ready for disassembly and repair. There are screwdrivers, a magnetic project pad, and other tools sitting around the robot. The top mounted LiDAR, top cover, and dustbin have already been removed. All of the top covers of the robot have been removed, exposing the green main logic board. There are many colored cables running from different components of the robot to connect to the main board at the top-front of the unit.
