Looking for advice on releasing my #ttrpg, should I do a smaller release on itch to gain traction once the playtest is more worked out or wait until I'm very comfy with it to try for a bigger release? Biggest issue is costs, I'd rather not go into debt trying to get art assets and editing

Very unfortunate to think that this system is a commentary on imperialist ethics being so deeply rooted in modern fantasy #ttrpg yet any manufacturing will necessitate using supply chains or manufacturing practices that only feed the imperialist meat grinder. This post said it better than I could.

I've seen a lot of people in the #ttrpg and #GameDev space recommend separating the game engine from the setting. A lot of my favorite games are so interlinked it would be difficult to separate, so what do y'all think is the separation point?

1. Pathfinder 1e
2. Freelance Infantry Strike Team (FIST)
3. Apocalypse World 2e
4. Hyper Light Drifter ttrpg
5. Warhammer 40k Crusade Rules

All of these have tied into my system in little ways and I hope I picked the good parts 😆
OMG we're doing all the intro posts but not our own niche! So:
Introduce yourself with your top 5 #TTRPG picks.

Changeling: The Lost
In Nomine (English + French editions)
Secrets of Cats
Sailor Moon Role-Playing Game
Over The Edge

Too many choices really! Already 2nd guessing my list.

This system should be a method for people to explore good and bad characters, as that's one of the things I personally love about ttrpgs (Shadowrun and Cyberpunk come to mind), that being said i want it to be explicitly clear that fascist *players* are not accepted.

In my playtesting I enjoy printing out copies of the Callings, stapling the one chosen onto my sheet, and then when all of the characters pass I'll burn the sheets. If I can find some way to be more eco-friendly it might be a fun rule to add.

Catharsis utilizes the Universal Calling system rather than classes. This primordial magic dictates the important characters who give their power to stories. Your adventurer may retain power from breaking destiny, but too much will make them different from who you made to the point they must leave.

Author's Note regarding why I made this system.

Some of my biggest inspirations include Hyper Light Drifter TTRPG, Apocalypse World, FATE Core, and F.I.S.T.; highly recommend checking all of them out!
