Facebook was melting our parents and grandparents brains, now tiktok is melting our younger siblings and cousins brains, tumblr is run by a racist, transphobic shithead who will harass his own users across multiple websites even AFTER nuking them from his platform, deviantart is just one giant NFT/AI grift now, and our current Social Media Savior is a walled-garden version of an open-source network protocol operated by a pissant liberal zionist transphobe who cant shut the fuck up about her breakfast dogwhistle. i grew up hoping to one day use the internet as a means of coming to love the world more, and it seems like every single day that passes, a new shred of what whimsy remained falls into a fucking abyss, as it loses funding or support or gets ddosed into oblivion or the people operating it die of entirely preventable conflicts and diseases and the planet continues boiling over because the bulk of one single country's population hasn't yet gotten angry or smart enough to inflict abject misery and fear upon their leaders and the businessmen that fund them."
