Well voter records seem to show that Charlie Kirk suspect Tyler Robinson was unaffiliated but his parents were registered Republicans… wonder how this plays into the ‘let’s get revenge on Democrats’ rhetoric?! 🤔

Remember the maths (math if you’re American) of resistance.

3.5% of the population need to actively dissent to succeed

US population is 340 million so that is 11.9 million people.

With 2,000 #nokings protests planned, an average of 6,000 protesters per protest would achieve the numbers needed

Don’t worry, the world sees… In fact, we’re probably seeing a much clearer picture OUTSIDE the US… the images being shown in UK media all show this for what it is - an authoritarian regime turning the military on its own people…

OH COME ON!! I expected more from The Independent…

Chances are not ‘slim’ that a thrice-married non-Catholic who has probably never even sat through an entire mass without falling asleep could be elected Pope.

This is insanity… I do like the very appropriate ad placement though

Come on BBC, you can do better. Stop normalising this insanity. You cannot equate Trump sharing an image of HIMSELF as Pope to Biden making the sign of the cross at a pro-choice event. They are NOT THE SAME. If you’re Catholic and also MAGA, now is the time to choose - you cannot be both

Zelensky is everything Trump is not:

A brave, compassionate leader who joins his people on the front lines instead of focusing on saving his own skin.

Calm under pressure and diplomatic

Zelensky doesn’t want to be a golden idol, he just wants his country to be free and Trump hates him for it

It’s also great practice for if they then gain power as they have already done the research and thought about what they would do. They are effectively a government-in-waiting. Our system is very different as we don’t have a president, our prime minister is just the leader of the majority party.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you’re in the US and you THINK you might be in danger in the future under the new administration, start finding a way out now.
It is ALWAYS better to worry you might have left too early than realize you are trapped and you left it too late

This one also probably not THAT useful

Dear Duolingo,

I appreciate your efforts but I’m just not sure I’ll ever need to say these…

Amazing news and HUGE congratulations to Derek Tran.

I do wish people would move away from this ‘Only in America’ narrative though…it feeds the kind of American exceptionalism which has allowed the MAGA movement to thrive.

It isn’t only America and if Trump has his way, it won’t be America at all

Three years ago today we lost Stephen Sondheim.

Not gonna lie, that one hurt

RIP John Prescott.
He showed us that you didn’t have to go to a posh school or have family connections to rise to one of the most important jobs in the country.
But most importantly, he understood the assignment. He believed that the role of government was about making ordinary people’s lives BETTER

I’m in the UK and so I celebrate Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night/Fireworks Night. Here’s a particularly surreal robot made from rubbish which was at an event in Sheffield, alongside all sorts of other bonkers things like a pirate treasure trail, a dragon and a mermaid….

I thought it would take me a while to let go of the ‘other place’ but since coming here, I’ve realised most of the accounts I enjoyed are here too and those who aren’t will be soon.

So I took the leap and deactivated yesterday. Twitter gave us some great moments but I won’t miss X…
