The most likely outcome is a wrongful arrest settlement paid out in about 3-10 years and no action taken against any police officer. c.f. every previous time they've done something similar.

The reason that protesters don't get massacred in the US is because the state is traditionally very worried about what the response would be if that happened. It's not benign institutional protection of the public but fear of repercussions if certain lines were crossed.

They controlled Ed Miliband's policy programme when he was leader, and also have close ties to Rachel Reeves. It's not about 'appealing to voters', rather they ventriloquise voters in order to push their own reactionary politics. It's only a faction of the higher echelons of the Labour Party.

There's a non-zero chance these are fascists adopting a vegan persona rather than vegan fascists, although I guess the only real distinction between those two things would be their actual diet so there is no way to find out.

Also not sure it needs to be a future utopia. Like they could say if trillions of people experience happiness for one day each that's worth tens of billions of people experiencing starvation/dysentary for most of their lives etc.

The current chancellor of the exchequer said there'd be race riots if immigration didn't come down and wrote an entire glowing chapter about a nazi in her book so it's not as if he's some kind of exception in the Labour Party.
