Thought this was a good tshirt choice for an event at the library titled "AusPol Explained".
If you're not Aussie but you know what the references in this post are, where the bloody hell are ya?

Outside of research and my moustache cat, I like making things. I took my first carpentry course in 2023, and two years later I made another shelf, this time for my many jars of tea and coffee.

When my cat was first prescribed Cisapride 2 years ago, we paid $95 for 100mL. This week I paid $140AUD.
Whilst my vets changed drug supplier during this time, that alone cannot explain the almost 50% increase in price
Marlin was also not impressed with this

My personal favourite is avocado consumption

To have kids engage with the PATROL study, I mentioned in the parental instructions the kids could put stickers on the lab request forms.
Fun for them, and fun for me receiving the samples at work. Hopefully the lab team enjoys it also.

I realised I don't have any digital photos of being in Launceston because it was 2002 and all my printed out photos are at my parents house.

And yes, that is a cabbage patch doll; his name is Angus Darcy and he's been to 35 countries with me.

#AMR Hotspots is now reporting rates, not just proportions of resistance (that's right people, a % of resistance is NOT A RATE).
Considering the coverage of the system, the representativeness across northern Australia is good 👍
Congratulations Hotspots team

Congratulations to Matthijs Berends and team for the release of the AMR for R package version 3!

I've been using this package to produce the AGAR Kids reports and can highly recommend.

Whilst there was a reduction in S. Typhi cases in Pakistan following the introduction of the vaccine, the proportion of cases that were XDR did not change
(Makes you wonder if there's increased virulence also associated with these strains?)

Next up is Peter Beyer from @gardp.bsky.social talking about a new approach for R&D and access for antimicrobials, particularly on paediatric sepsis, considering market forces alone will not improve the access and #AMR challenges

The ID Epi team from @wcvid.bsky.social and @thekidsau.bsky.social are here at #ESPID2025 and we're excited!
Both our oral presentations are tomorrow 10.30am - Belaynew in the Public Health session and myself in the Antimicrobials. Either one will be a fantastic presentation 😊
