I have to remind myself of my victories. Since beginning the farm (2008) I've built a road to the creek; cleared 3 homesites; doubled the size of our chicken flock; fenced areas for grazing livestock; planted trees; and increased biodiversity... all on a shoestring budget. Hope and Action.

Walking the fenceline, last weekend, to assess the need for repairs, I came upon one of the oldest living Mesquite trees on the farm. It has a trunk diameter of 3.5', and stands on the bank of an old stock pond. The area around it is home to many animals (evidenced by the many burrow entrances.

Good morning world! 2025 will be the last year of my reforestation endeavor on the farm. Rainfall this Winter has been near nonexistent, and I am terrified as to what Summer will bring to Texas in terms of heat and drought. These last 30-40 trees are the last to have my energies.
