Slowly moving further left without moving.
Mysterious goo, you say? Made me think of something I saw in a Denis Villeneuve movie. I reckon it's quite fitting here.

I had to upgrade from my 2017 phone, because my banking app informed me that it'll stop working soon, because the Android version on the phone is too old... So now I'm stuck with this huge slab of a phone that barely fits in my pocket, because no one apparently makes sensibly-sized phones anymore.

How DARE the consumers not fork over a measly $1,000 for a new phone every year?!

Ruining the goddamn economy, the cheap luddites...

The thing about ol' Jimmy Beast here is that whenever I see a post of his somewhere, my first thought is "Who's paying him to say that?" He's basically productised his entire public-facing persona to the point, where I'm not even sure there's much of a real human left behind it all anymore.
November 23, 2025 at 3:45 PM
I have some ideas as to why that may be :)
November 22, 2025 at 3:41 PM
It really does look like the only "merits" that count in this bastardisation of a meritocracy of theirs is sycophancy and a complete lack of morals.

Is that the same machine Zack De La Rocha and the guys were furious with?

It's quite telling how the justification for the use of genAI seems to virtually always be something pretty far-fetched or ultimately unrelated, like the comparison to middleware here. Not to mention the arguments tend to be put forth by the c-suite rather than the developers doing the actual work.

Not only do they seem to be more at ease with paedophilia, they struggle to spin this in a way that makes Trump come off like the Peak Masculine Alpha Male™ they try so hard to portray him as.

He heard about the areas on the Moon that get no sunlight and thought "Whoa, must be pretty cold there. Wouldn't that be great for cooling processors and shit? I gotta post about this. It'll make me sound so smart and cool." without any further thought for practical application and logistics.

There are literally dozens -- if not hundreds -- of news stories and articles explaining how tariffs work and who pays them. It's not the media's fault you're not paying attention.

For example, here's one from 2018 that explicitly says importers pay the tariffs: www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-t...
Fact check: Is Trump right that China is paying billions in tariffs?
President Trump says China is paying "billions," but importers pay the tax -- and pass the costs to U.S. consumers

It's weird how these massive leaps in genAI's ability seem to perpetually be a couple of years away. "Just give it a couple of years and it'll cure cancer, bro, trust me."
November 9, 2025 at 5:52 PM
It's quite the experience to read something and find that you disagree with every single one of the author's statements. Literally the first sentence had me going, "nope" and the "nopes" just kept stacking as I read further.
November 9, 2025 at 3:51 PM
At least you had the decency to include the quote from his spokesperson calling you out for writing clickbait garbage :)
November 9, 2025 at 5:08 AM
So, in review, "several" apparently means 10, according to the Axios article. I also dig how Talarico's spokesperson basically calls Axios out for clickbaity bullshit :)
November 9, 2025 at 5:07 AM
Heh, WaPo's promoting Perplexity's browser too.

"What's that? I get to read your hateful bullshit AND feed the Plagiarism Machine at the same time?! Sign me the fuck up!"

The poor "debate me" crowd is STARVING after the Twitter exodus. These guys are so desperate for an argument, that they're ranting at a glorified Speak & Spell.
November 8, 2025 at 7:47 PM
"The final product reflects the creativity and expression of our development team" is such a "legalese" statement, that I'm certain it was drafted by a bunch of lawyers.
November 8, 2025 at 7:38 PM
It's gonna put a whole bunch of fuckers out of work, but that's a small price to pay for the insane advancements in fuckery it's going to provide. You can't stop progress.
November 7, 2025 at 4:36 PM
I had to go check if it's real, because that is genuinely fucking CRAZY. The fact that he had to explicitly say how to pronounce it shows that he realised it's really fucking bad, but STILL went with it. What an absolute thumb of a person :D
November 7, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Imagine wasting the time of developers and contributors for clout. I already loathed genAI and genAI apologists, but this whole thing added a pretty sizeable stack of fresh hatred on top of the pile.
November 6, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Fucking hell... I can't think of a worse waste of time and resources than submitting bullshit genAI bug reports.

Suomalainen oikeisto tuntuu ottavan askelmerkit lisääntyvissä määrin tuolta lätäkön toisen puolen konservatiiveiltä; siellä kapitalismi jyllää ja sosialismi on kirosana. Typerää täällä nillittää sosialismista, ku se on yks suomalaisen hyvinvointivaltion kulmakivistä. Sahataan oksaa, millä istutaan.

Purchases I've been notably excited about over the past year:
1) A new vacuum (Oooh, so powerful!)
2) A new frying pan (Oooh, so smooth and slick!)

The weirdest part about this is that I also upgraded my PC hardware and it turns out I was less excited about that than the other stuff.
