When someone grievously wrongs you or expresses an intention to do so, the appropriate course of action is to Be The Bigger Person and never hold it against them or take action to protect yourself from them. Especially, crucially, you must never tell anyone else what that person did.

Reading these as an adult, the conclusion I assume the Erins want us to come to is that when you have a problem, especially a problem involving another person and especially with life-and-death consequences, the appropriate course of action is to communicate with no one ever and do nothing about it
