This isn’t how Christianity works.

So for anyone I’ve ever judged, I’m sorry.

So, who was this woman that made such a profound tweet that it stuck with me all these years?

None other than @bethmoorelpm.bsky.social

I’m realizing now that the Holiness teachings I grew up with are full of unnecessary judgment.

I never quite understood that teaching. Aren’t we supposed to talk to others and be kind to them to fulfill the Great Commission?

As it turns out, judgment and isolation are part of the plan. They are a form of control that can quickly land you on the border of a cult.

Anyone outside the four walls of the church is a sinner— regardless of their relationship with Christ.

We were taught not to associate with the outsiders, lest their sin muddy up our own white robes.

That meant she was a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” and not a real Christian.

The Holiness teachings (at least, in the church I came from) is very much “us vs them.”

Instead, it’s been sitting in my drafts for years.

Why did I never share it?

Because the woman who had given me so much encouragement in one little tweet was not of the Holiness faith.

How did she like her coffee?

Mine would put evaporated milk in hers.

Gosh, I miss her.
