Wait a minute, has this company ever actually run a large scale event? A few booths at a con is not remotely the same thing.

But hey, some stupid idea like this aligns with the effective altruism that rationalists love to espouse but is really just an excuse not to do anything that would actually help.

Isn’t a better idea to just go all in on renewables and then use excess power generated to scrub carbon from the air at scale once we’ve managed to reduce carbon footprint?

Like, there’s more issues with releasing carbon into the atmosphere than just heating the earth, can’t solve one aspect of it.

Woohoo! Congratulations 🎉

Like how? Domestic Air Canada is one of the worst experiences on an airline I ever had (YVR to YYZ) with thin seats, rows 10 across, etc. The YYZ-SEA trip was on the same type of plane but configured like an Alaskan plane because they actually have to compete. Porter is at least nice?

I don’t disagree, if I had a choice, it’d be public transportation. I’m only saying that what Waymo’s CEO said isn’t exactly a bad thing g to say given the context.
November 22, 2025 at 6:19 AM
At least with Waymo, what they’re saying makes sense and given their track record so far, they seem to be taking safety seriously. Unlike other people pursing self-driving cars. Not saying I like Waymo, but how to handle fatal crashes is a basic question ethicists have been grappling with for awhile

Haha, sometimes you just gotta yolo. Didn’t exactly help that the tour guide running the raft would tell us all the stories of people who died. At least he did it after each set of rapids where the story happened? 😂

Granted, most of those weee from people being dumb and rafting during floods.

Oh and… While the thigh sunburn was absolutely painful and probably at least a second degree burn, it was totally worth it because it was probably the only time I’ll be brave enough to do category four rapids lol.

But yeah, hopefully you don’t have to deal with that again next year cause it suuucks.

The other was exactly like your back, I couldn’t reach it with my sunscreen properly and went snorkeling. The next day I asked the only other person I knew, a girl, to help me with sunscreen and since this was pretransition she was like wtf until she saw my back and was like “Oh. Yep you need help.”

ogod I remember doing that twice on a big massive vacation I took between uni and starting my career. One was my thighs from white water rafting, sunscreen rubbed off from the raft, it required me to wear a wet suit to do anything near water l, it was that bad. This was in the peak of Aussie summer.
