Soo... apparently I didn't ATTEND an art battle at the Reno Generator, I participated! I was the wild card - people practice for MONTHS on their pieces, I got 5 minutes and a handful of primary colors in a medium I haven't used in over a decade.
I also literally had nothing to lose, so fuck it!

Had a great time at the Reno Punk Flea Market this weekend! Lots of great acts, lots of great vendors, and I stayed a new battle jacket! My last sadly disappeared years ago, but if there ever was a time to forge one anew...

I built a thing! It will spark joy in others!
It was necessary for my sanity and any hope for getting a project done, so I slapped it together with what I had laying around.
I've already used it enough to know I made the right call, though, and historically this has been perfect for what I need!

WIP, gilding experimentation piece. On tant paper, with Rosenoble double gold leaf.
I'm hoping to be able to draw the texture of the paper out more with the leaf, but so far it's hit or miss... and sadly artificial leaf behaves SO DIFFERENTLY that on fiddly stuff you just have to bite the bullet.

Absolutely stunning! I do colored pencil drawings, often of birds. Drawing those fine feather details with a ball point is beyond impressive!

More progress on my latest art project! The koi is by Riccardo Foschi, the lily pad (I'm on the fence about including this specific one ATM) is traditional. The poses are completely arbitrary, some of the gilding needs touched up, and I'm only about 2/3-3/4 done with the fish, then on to lilies!
