USA Today clearly does not know what DMV stands for. Yes, the DMV is very much affected more than the rest of the country.

Played Fox Experiment for the first time and everyone had a lot of fun! It was a learn and teach so we only got through 4 out of 5 rounds but apparently I'm a boy mom. Now I need to find a copy of the 5-6 player expansion somewhere cause it was such a hit at gamenight 😭

In addition to the Taxonomy Cards, there are also a handful of new Bonus Cards related to Taxonomy.

You can read all about the development and background of this project in this thread:

I'd like to share my #Wingspan Taxonomy Expansion! I've been working on this for about four years trying to get this working well and I'm happy to release it into the world.

The expansion centers around the Field Science game mode and a deck of Taxonomy cards.

So I guess the safest way to see a Scissor-tail Flycatcher is to go to Central America in winter?

Other new birds from the trip include the Boreal Chickadee (White Mountains) and Black Guillemot. I also saw my first Common Eider since I started using eBird to track my observations in January 2022, but I'd also seen them years ago.

This Black Guillemot was swimming with us at Sand Beach! 🪶

On my recent trip to New England, I saw my 120th base Wingspan species, the Atlantic Puffin, taking me up to two-thirds seen. Wilson's Storm-Petrel is my 7th European Expansion species seen. They're so, so tiny for pelagic birds! 🪶

Walked down to see flash-flooded Rock Creek this evening after 5 inches of rain and ended up in Amphibia.

Was doing well tonight in Votes for Women until I rolled six 1's and 2's in a row on the Fifteenth Amendment, losing all my buttons and the benefits of one of the best cards in the game. 😭

Managed to eke the 19th through Congress on the second to last round of the game, but lost in final voting.

The email went to my spam but I marked it not spam so hopefully that helps. It did have a strange street address at the end, though?

Tomato. Lagniappe. Tofu. Algebra. I could go on and on and on and on with words not derived from PIE. Nonsensical headlines drive me up a wall.

I'm not sure who wanted to see a Brown Thrasher butt, but today's your day. 🪶

It's funny that there was a pair of catbirds singing and they kept following me as the thrashers kept fleeing me. Three mimid species day and all in the same little area!

They were on opposite sides of the dike when I was there, but I've read reports that the gallinule has been hanging out with their bff American Coot. 🪶
