Did you know Medi-Cal no longer considers a person's assets when determining eligibility?

In California, "dual" Medicare plans (Medicare & Medi-Cal/Medicaid) have a care/case management program; someone is available to help you find care, book appointments, and assist with anything that may be impacting your health (housing). They also can send nurses for home visits.

Took my dad to the VA for a walk-in physical therapy visit and got a top-of-the-line walker at no cost. Just wanted to say something nice about the VA.

"Duals" have both Medicare and Medi-Cal. If you are a dual on a non-dual, regular Advantage plan, in 2025 you can move to a fully integrated dual plan any time. However, you can only change back to a regular Advantage plan Oct 15- Dec 7. Ask me why I think this is important.

Your Medicare insurance company calls you. They say it's urgent. What do you do?
1. Tell them you'll call them back at the number on your card. Hang up, call back.
2. If it was not a scam, hear them out
5. Call your local Medicare Agent for guidance
(Avoid making changes over the phone)

Where I live, most Advantage Plans are $0 per month & include Part D. There are a couple of PPO Advantage plans that are +/- $40 a month.

The Part D costs this article refers to are for the "stand alone" Part D plans that accompany a Supplement/Medigap plan.

US Medicare says Part D and Advantage premiums will fall in 2025
Average premiums and benefits for Medicare's prescription drug program and private Medicare plans are projected to remain stable in 2025 with premiums slightly declining, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said on Friday.

It's possible to live in a retirement community that has Physicians who do house calls and physical therapists who work on site. It's also possible that you can't see them because of insurance. Do an annual Medicare review.
