I'm beginning to think that Canada should start manufacturing ammunition and advanced weaponry. Mainly to help Ukraine and as much as I thought I'd never say this, we might need it ourselves.

That's the world we live in now. Employees aren't paid enough by corporations to risk their safety and deal with that stuff. Corporations will hire security and use it as an excuse to increase prices.

I feel much the same but have found one way to give it some joy is to try and help others enjoy it.
The commercialization and marketing has ruined the real meaning IMO. Probably part of the reason many don't like it anymore.
