I think you can buy coin purses to bank your money (minus 10%) before a tough fight, but they are limited buys. And you only get access to unlimited consumable buys in late-game. Without a soul retrieval runback option, death feels like adding insult to injury.

I had an absolute blast with the game.... But only after I downloaded a tool to unlock the framerate and disable coin loss and dragonrot death mechanics. Getting punished for taking risks and experimenting (and dying repeatedly) made me drop the vanilla game for years!

I've definitely used a second board instead of a breadboard to make a pcb sandwich to hold the headers in place when soldering pogo pins, I bet the same would work here!
