Beer dude at large, currently a brewery lab supervisor.
A little bummed this is not the same Iceplant as Carpobrotus edulis. Would love to have a culinary application for a non native invasive species.

Also worth nothing, SFBW did this years ago and I just couldn't help asking "why?" www.sfgate.com/wine/brew/ar...
Green Death malt liquor for SF Beer Week
The San Francisco Brewers Guild is making a "craft" version of a malt liquor to coincide...

We make an Imperial IPA with enzymes and Dextrose and nobody up top recognizes the irony. (Could be because they don't know what defines Malt Liquor or because they don't know how this beer is made, but I am slightly bummed to be constructing a zhuzhed up Green Death)

This isn't a joke, it's just a direct Joe buck quote.

My guess is that Columbia was the power player here.

You're both fired from life. (I feel like most of ATDI's song names could get this treatment. They were a border town band and way ahead of this shit in the 90s)

and I have a few former coworkers and other industry sales folks that likely just lost their jobs. Shit is whack. Eugene beer scene has supported smaller distro/self distro pretty well so I agree that the smaller breweries are gonna get it from both sides.

Reading this made me feel like I was having a stroke within a fever dream. So many "Brand New Sentences" like "commenters were particularly bereft that their Rob Schneider-approved “0% Safe Space” contract liquor did not arrive by Christmas". Idiocracy was a documentary.

As a lab employee, not removing the old label is hurting my brain, and would absolutely fail a safety inspection. I appreciate the second use, however.

Being a Brewers fan means I sleep great at night knowing very few moves will be made. FOMO is not a thing. [poking Mark Attanasio with a stick}: do somethin'

It's pretty much a guarantee that it's been pasteurized, so a several month old N/A beer is probably not that much worse than "fresh."

🤯 Holy shit that just took me back and now I can't remember if I've seen them live or not. Getting them crossed up with Strung Out.

how is anyone employed by the wine/beer industry not partisan at this point anyway? What rock is this dude living under?

From what I’ve seen trash is/was handled totally different in nyc so this kinda makes sense. It would make sense to escalate tickets after repeat offenses but with the frequency of sweeping in areas of sf it seems like a racket and not for cleaning value
September 24, 2025 at 4:55 PM
I have no clue, still seems high when I think about living in the Sunset and each side of the street had street sweeping 2x per week plus construction/etc. nearly impossible to avoid every ticket. MUNI was not reliable enough at the time to use 100%, and I biked frequently as well.
September 24, 2025 at 3:42 PM
It does seem problematic in a few ways (privacy issues, threats against enforcement agents, etc), but holy crap $90 ticket for street sweeping and $107 for an expired meter? WTF? I haven't lived there in 15 years but being in the outer regions of the city without a car was often a challenge

I am aware. That is why I wrote that I wanted a *soup-can* cuzie.

Beer infused soup? Delicious! Soup infused beer? Abomination! I for one am awaiting my Cambell's soup-can cuzie.

Just so we're clear, you made me look up "Bop House" and you have never made me feel older than my (until now, young) age of 42.
