Why this, and not something else?

1. The Teardrop Explodes: Kilimanjaro (1 million points, or 5 if that’s not allowed )
2. The Smiths: S/T
3. Echo and the Bunnymen: Crocodiles
4. Cocteau Twins: Garlands
5. Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds: From Her to Eternity
Hugely nostalgic selection from a special time for me.

About 5 or 6 years ago I was on holiday on Koh Samui, Thailand and while walking on the beach one morning I actually came across a whistle on the sand. Green plastic rather than inscribed metal but, you know, what are the chances? Despite all my Jamesian reading, I blew it. And here I am. Or am I?

Actually it was at Fagin’s in October 81 that they did Waiting for the Man together. I know because I was there. I believe from reading accounts that she was at the Salford gig in 82 as well but don’t know what songs if any they did together.

Not the music and navigation parts anyway. The cloacal bit would have been within his range

The wonderful Kilimanjaro is 45 years old today. (Album, not mountain. Mountain is apparently 2.5 million years old).

I hope this is 3 *more* years. It would be unfair to give him anything less.

This should be a lot of fun over multiple rounds working up to a face-off between Kilimanjaro and Endtroducing

Basically, Noah Hawley mashed up Alien and Fargo in that brilliant episode. All the dread and jeopardy from Alien visited on the dumbest bunch of MFs you’re ever likely to meet outside of TV land Minnesota.

I liked it a lot. It was too eclectic for its own good. Was represented as trip-hop and although there were elements of that, it was rather more.
