I had a good time talking with Brazilian actor #WagnerMoura about his role in one of the year's best films, "The Secret Agent," and about one of his favorite Brazilian bands, Chico Science. #Brazilianfilm www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainmen...
Brazil's Wagner Moura lands in the Hollywood spotlight with 'The Secret Agent'
With his return to northeastern Brazil to play a role that has earned him a Golden Globe nomination, Moura disproves the notion that you can't go home again.

Thirty-three years ago this month, one of my favorite action films, "Hard-Boiled," debuted in North America. I remember sitting through it twice at the Nuart Theater in LA. www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainmen...
John Woo's 'Hard-Boiled' is the best action-crime film ever made. Fight me.
The 1992 movie, with its dazzlingly choreographed bullet ballet sequences, raised the bar and paved the way for 'The Matrix' and 'John Wick.'

For the first time in the state-incentive era of filmmaking, Texas is now competitive with its neighbors in terms of luring productions to the state. We'll see if this is the game changer that its proponents say it is.
Texas throws its cowboy hat in the ring to be Hollywood on the Gulf
Now that SB 22 is law and the Lone Star State is upping its film incentives to $150 million per year, more productions might come here. But there are still obstacles to cross.
