A win for truth and history: A National Park Service page(removed by Musk) on the Underground Railroad has been restored to prominently feature Harriet Tubman, after her image and quote were removed earlier this year. Now, her legacy as a fearless champion for freedom has rightfully been restored. ✊

As a reminder that protests don’t end where they start: when news of the Stamp Act first arrived in America in May 1765, most printers reacted by advertising on the premise of “buy now before prices go up.” Took until August/September for even the people most affected to actively turn against it.

🔥 WATCH: “DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING?”

U.S. Army Chorus sings Les Miz protest songs at the Governor’s Ball at the White House 👀 — about a Paris uprising of peasants against a monarchy.

people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

Just taught my last class of the semester.

Early National America

And my last lecture ended by urging students to remember that there is no endpoint to democracy. You have to work at it.

Always.
