This frame in Pedro Páramo is a great illustration of how cinema can play with the simultaneous 2D and 3D nature of space on the screen. We know the table is horizontal, but on a screen it seems vertical, making Pedro look like a king atop a mountain. He sits alone, master of a deserted kingdom.
