My understanding is that the most expensive part of marketing is getting people to actually watch your ad (billboards, TV slots, etc), not making the ad itself
So choosing a divisive slop commercial doesn’t make a lot of sense to me

Donkey Kong was stellar
Mario kart feels and sounds amazing
They value their developers greatly with high pay and retention
Just feels like they’re relatively low on the evil scale compared to the rest.
