I’d truly love to one day be a 1m sub channel where I can truly take the advice from Caddy and do whatever I want and feel like my hard work still gets to be seen.

I don’t think anybody should build their content entirely around it, but I think you’ve gotta play the algorithm game to a degree when you’re small.

Unless you’re passionate about algorithm friendly content, some sacrifices to artistic vision need to be made if you want your hard work to be seen.

Stripping out elements I loved, but were hurting video performance, and then seeing my first video back in a more algorithm friendly style do over 10x the views I’d usually see was eye opening.

Definitely not condescending! I just wanted to offer perspective from the other side.

Up until this year I went out of my way to make videos in the exact style and format I wanted. I love those videos, but I’d be lying if I said I felt completely fulfilled when they landed with a thud 9/10 times.

Yeah the review every game format has transformed my channel massively.

Every fibre of my being wants to review each of these games individually and get real nerdy with the background history, but people won’t watch that unfortunately.

Oh trust me, I thought I was about to pop off too lol

Funnily enough, I think it might actually have seen things grow significantly after my mention in Pan’s video if my videos were more algorithm friendly back then.

Good point, the times where videos have fallen flat despite being tweaked for the algorithm definitely hurts more!

No issue with the actual message. I pretty much agree with it tbh. But the whole “make what you want” sentiment is so easy for one of the biggest YouTubers in the world to emphasise.

In the past year I decided to try and make my content more algorithm friendly.

Ended up having my first 100k view video (previous best was like 30k and it took 7 years of being uploaded to get there) and hit 10k subscribers. Around 10% of my total subscribers have come since making this change.

I even switched up my content to be MORE in line with what I personally wanted to make and views got worse lol.

I produced a feature length documentary that took years to make. I was extremely passionate about it and I’m proud of what I made. Would’ve been nice if an audience vibed with it though.

I spent 7 years on YouTube making the exact videos I wanted and I was getting nowhere. It’s depressing to have nobody see the things you worked on and are truly proud of.

I’d put hours and hours of work into something watched by very few people. Loved the videos but it hurts having nobody watch.

When you’re at the level of Caddicarus you can make whatever you want and still have it seen by huge audiences. That hard work gets rewarded. Making stuff you’re truly happy with is so awesome, but part of the fun is sharing the stuff you create with the world. Having people actually see it.
November 7, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Yeah I absolutely agree. The core sentiment here makes sense, but I feel like it’s very easy to say this if you’re a creator with hundreds of thousands or millions of subscribers.

Glad you checked it out!

I never really settled on a main for NASB2 because I was so late to playing it and the online was pretty dead. In the first game I mained Leonardo, but he was cut from the sequel 🫠
