While the immediate focus of all caring and levelheaded Americans must be on supporting Democrats in this year’s midterms, I see no problem in looking forward to a time when America is led by an effective, progressive president.

Given that she ran the shortest campaign in American history, she did incredibly well. I believe that with more time to execute her messaging, she would prevail.

The VP was (and is) intelligent, experienced, and beyond capable of serving in the nation’s highest office. If she does decide to run again in 2028, I will be an immediate supporter.

The issues that matter most to her are the ones that matter to most of us: economic opportunity and fairness, affordability, the climate crisis, upholding democratic norms, protecting (or in some instances, reestablishing) basic rights.

This book reaffirmed my appreciation for the former VP. Harris details how her plans would have uplifted poor and middle class Americans, as well as benefited businesses (with a specific emphasis on small businesses.)

While some of this is painful to read, as it is revisiting the national nightmare of the 2024 election, this book isn’t one note. There are moments of joys. Some of the reflections are even hilarious.

It provides much more information than what Harris has revealed in interviews. She has thoughtfully explained her reasons for different strategies, as well as admitting some mistakes. This book also contains a call to action regarding the ongoing battle for the future of America.

The Great North ended beautifully. While I wish we had gotten more time with the Tobins, I’ll always appreciate the five seasons of wholesome hilarity.

There is psychedelic imagery that can be both haunting and beautiful. For me, this is tied with Joe Pera Talks With You for the title of best ever Adult Swim original.

Common Side Effects is a perfect example of prestige television. The writing is smart. There’s good twists and character development. The overall storyline revolves around a magic healing mushroom and a conspiracy involving a massive pharmaceutical company.

I have no idea how this story will progress, but I’m eager to find out. If you’re a fan of post-apocalyptic stories, or Gilligan’s other works, I recommend checking it out. It is a slow burn but the best kind (never boring, always gripping.)

Pluribus proves that Vince Gilligan is still a master of TV storytelling. Rhea Seehorn is a wonderful actress. While we saw her talent on display in Better Call Saul, it’s nice to see her finally take the lead in this series. Carol is a fascinating character.

That being said, Iyanu’s journey is uniquely her own. I can’t wait to see it continue in season 2. I’m also interested to read the graphic novels at some point.

Iyanu had me instantly hooked. I tuned in every Saturday morning. This show can be surprisingly intense, but is also extremely fun. There is such cool world-building. I’m not the first person to make this comparison, but I think this would appeal to fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

However, I will quickly shoutout The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and SpongeBob SquarePants for continuing to be highly entertaining. I’d also like to note that King of the Hill had a fantastic return.

No honorable mentions this time. However, I will note that I still haven’t watched KPop Demon Hunters. I have a feeling I’ll enjoy that one.

Iyanu’s first TV movie, The Age of Wonders, was a pleasant surprise to hold us over until season 2. Speaking of Iyanu, I will talk more about her in tomorrow’s ranking of TV shows (which happens to be my favorite list for this year.)

I was very excited for Search for SquarePants, and I was not let down in the slightest. Seeing that in the theater was a wonderful experience.

Companion was a deeply meaningful horror movie.
