Tell me why the new sims update is 12.3 gigabytes what the hell

This is a long shot but I have an Alienware laptop I got. It’s maybe from 2017/18. It was a gift. For some reason there’s no option to connect to Wi-Fi, it just doesn’t show up. The only thing I can do is connect Ethernet cable or airplane mode. I can’t find answers anywhere!! Does anyone have ideas
