We just got to 46! After several in-game days of being stymied, we had two massively productive days resulting in a ton of permanent unlocks, and a marathon run to the end.

We're planning to poke around further, but I suspect if we get stymied again, we're out.

(Now, to watch the video!)

And, I don't know where it would even fit within the story or pacing.

Doesn't work near the end, but if you put it too close to the beginning it'll feel like Saruman warped there.

Thematically, kind of fits parallel to Denethor's madness, but I think running the too concurrently would be a slog.

I think the films could have managed the first bit by moving it forward, although they'd have had to spin up new protagonists to avoid "fast traveling" them about. That would have required developing some more hobbits at the beginning to return to - so, a lot of work.

Second bit, I'm not so sure.

Yeah. I get the themes of "even if you're far away from the war, you aren't safe from the war" and "even after the enemy is defeated, it isn't." Especially given when he was writing.

To that end, it had to be there as a strange psudo-epilogue. But it's bumpy pacing.

Loved him in this. I was disappointed he was taking the role, as he's far from the androgynous image I have of MB. But I was thrilled to be proven wrong, he did a wonderful job with the character.

And, between him and the more biting, agendered Murderbot in my head, I now get twice the MB to enjoy!

Music? Where's the counting? Fine, I'll do it myself.

Three
One
Four
One
Five
Nine
Four . . . OK, this is harder than I thought. I guess McConaughey earned himself a /few/ days off with pleasant holiday music.

Yeeeeah. I miss those forums every day.

It was always a treat to step into the Lore section, even if I felt some folks were needlessly hard-nosed about it.

Given that I don't use reddit, I don't tend to see much these days. Although what I do see tends to be from very reasonable people. :)

I love lore fiends, it's a community dear to my heart, but some of them really need to look up the definition of "unreliable narrator." Thankfully, the veterans I know tend to be good at explaining this to the more literally-minded folks :)

(As a dev, it is fun pooh-poohing the sanctity of "canon")

Parmesan finally broke through the gate, and got to show off for the lady folks across the other pasture. With no good way to get him back to his pasture, we had to toss him in with the boys (and Lyrid with the girls, which she had no issues with).

An adventurous start to Thanksgiving!

It was beaten by Ace Ventura?

Are you certain sharing this link doesn't breach Bluesky's rules on obscenity? ;)

The Scarecrow I can deal with, but the product placement for the Tin Man? No way.

You don't know the half of it!

Stewart, the large whether (castrated ram) in the photo above used to be in the ram flock. But some of the younger rams were beating him up and he had to be separated.

Thankfully, he integrated with the ewes very quickly.

Definitely a lot of Game Design and Media Studies departments in the US. But yeah, don't come here. Shame UK isn't doing more here.

Although strangely, the first academic conference I'm going to be presenting at is this summer in Leeds.

Love working with modders, but I regularly encounter similar situations with these peculiar omissions or blind spots. Places the author clearly put thought into explaining and telegraphing some elements, but spaced on others, presumably because it never dawned on them more was needed there.

I'm not surprised this was largely a solo dev affair, as it's hard to design puzzles when you already know the answers. Extremely impressed with how the first few days unfolded. But once it started to drag, I recognized that dissonance from similar situations - especially working with modders.

My wife and I recently started playing this. As much fun as we're having, we're already feeling that RNG criticism. It's weird having so many potential threads to pull they're hard to keep track of (even with notes), but also have days we seemingly can't pursue any of them.

We discovered a lamb-sized hole in the roof of the shelter. Thankfully no one was hurt. But as you can see, lessons were not learned.

(Or maybe the lesson was learnt by that particular lamb, and it simply hasn't been conveyed to the others.)

Dench-M and Brosnan-Bond sound like things you'd find at a pharmacy.

Well, something I'd find. Maybe Brits have reasonably named things at their chemists. All medicines in the US have cranky wizard names.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying your expertise in traveling an endless subway loop gives off "Big NPC" vibes.

Great, how will they know I'm boycotting this when I'm already boycotting their cowardly DEI retreat?
