Ballard Locks — a set of shipping locks operated by federal government to allow traffic between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, surrounded by park-like gardens, with a fish ladder to let salmon swim around them. Lots of good beer, coffee, food in surrounding Ballard neighborhood.
