Meet your new garbage man, I guess? I’ve been seeing a lot of articles lately about raccoons showing signs of domestication, but didn’t expect they’d skip right over being pets and go straight into having jobs. #TrashPanda 🤣

After reading an article on NPR about a new book vending machine concept, I went to that company’s website, and found a familiar name front and center on their page— @helenzax.bsky.social . I ❤️ having writing friends. #kidlit #picturebooks

“The Printer” - Taken 1905 by Lewis Hines. He took this at the school where he taught. Lewis referred to this photo as his first “bullseye” and it represents a critical moment in Hines’ path from teaching kids to becoming a documentary photographer who fought to end child labor. #DecisiveMoments

A Little Pretty Pocket Book by John Newbery (1744) is credited as being among the earliest “children’s books.” It predates discovery of dinosaurs and the invention of trains— seems mostly about various games kids play, told in rhyme, and with little morals included at the end of each poem.

Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning ‘humanity to others’. It is often described as reminding us that ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’. To be human is to recognize the humanity of others, the core idea of human rights and dignity.
