@sfdirewolf.bsky.social touched my life in more ways than I was able to express to her. She saw me, heard me, spoke with me, guided and gave me space to let my rage out and I'll forever be immensely grateful for her presence and bravery as a disability activist who spoke truth to power.❤️‍🔥

I'm desperate and need help. My Instagram account got hacked on Monday and I've been unable to gain and keep access. I got in for 10 minutes yesterday to delete a sketchy scam link that was placed in my profile, but I got logged out again, and NOTHING I've tried is working, and Meta help is USELESS

I just saw a post about it on IG with the name of the journalist who died, Youssef Al-Khazandar, and 6 other journalists who were injured.

GenAI frees up time for ppl in North America, Europe, and East Asia who call it as a blessing of modern convenience, but just as with Electric Vehicles and vapes being sold as better for the environment, ppl in Africa and South East Asia (and the environment) are being exploited for others' benefit.

This morning, the IOF targeted and killed Palestinian journalist Mohammed Mansour, and I sat stunned.

Today, the Israeli military with the aid, money, and support of the U.S., Canadian, and U.K. governments killed two young men for reporting the truth Western media refuses to admit and show.

This morning, the IOF targeted and killed Palestinian journalist Hossam Shabat.
I follow his Twitter account and share his reports of the pain and devastation he and his people have been forced to experience daily.

I read the news, and I cried.
I mourn for a young man whose life has been stolen.

We said this would happen and now look...
Just this morning I had to quote tweet a post of someone/a bot telling people to use ChaptGPT for therapy, and I don't for a minute believe that's a coincidence. These tech companies want to make people dependent on AI to manipulate the younger generation.

I've spoken of this repeatedly and I'll keep doing so b/c it's madness that critics and journalists are expected to act as publicists for celebrities by lying about what we think of their art and only say positive things about them and their fans to help their image, and face abuse for refusing to.

Saw announcements of tomorrow being day of U.S. civic engagement through an economic blackout, which I think is a terrific idea.
Capitalists know that money is power, and civilians showing them how much power we hold by withholding our spending and buying power is one of the best ways to protest.

I looked up Jomo's filmography while making the thread, and of course he worked on ALL DIRT ROADS! Terrific film.
The way the camera loves Black skin and the characters is very similar to the experience I had watching NICKLE BOYS. The way Elwood saw his Grandma feels exactly the same way. Brilliant

It was genius of RaMell to literally take the 1st person perspective of a novel and project it on screen b/c it allows the audience to literally this world through Elwood's eyes. It made me think that this is how we as humans exist almost as abstract reflections(?) of how we and others see ourselves

What RaMell did with this film is magic. Visually, it's one of the most unique feature films (there's great shorts too)I've seen in a very long time.
1 other film from this year I thought of with such a unique cinematography and narrative concept is Carla Gutierrez's documentary on Frida Khalo.

Since I wasn't aware of the exact plot of Colson Whiteheads's novel, I actually thought the book and the film was based on the experiences of the Black children who'd been imprisoned at the reform schools for Black children in Alabama, as told in the UNREFORMED PODCAST.

I watched NICKEL BOYS by RaMell Ross, and it's an excellent and devastating film. As with THE BRUTALIST, I chose not to read the plot synopsis until I finished the film, and I'm glad I did that because it meant I'd have no preconceived expectations about the story and the film.
